From Jose and Bestiario comes reMap
“reMap is a Bestiario project based on visualcomplexity.com
Visual Complexity.com is the most complete and well organized collection of visualization projects related with complex systems. Manuel Lima’s compilation is priceless for all of us working on the visualization fields. But also artists, scientists, humanists, educators… can find inspiration and knowledge. VC is not only a compilation: each project is displayed with rich contextual information, including a text and visitors comments, and the whole project is enriched with stats, a book selection, external links, trend analysis on contents and depiction techniques, and a blog.reMap displays visualcomplexity.com projects allowing navigation using a semantic approach and depicting relations among them. Images and texts belong to vc portal. Tags are assigned using a semantic engine created by Bestiari”Be sure to check it out here : Link

From Domanic over at Champagne Valentine ,comes this site, a fully interactive site for the tenth commission in The Unilever Series for the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern, “How It Is” by renowned Polish artist Miroslaw Balka.
Here’s what Domanic had to say about the project:-
“Working in close collaboration with the Tate and the artist himself, Champagne Valentine have designed the site to allow the online visitor to experience the concerns of the work via a unique 3D interface.
Champagne Valentine How It Is site combines Flash and Papervision technologies to create the essence of darkness, using complex shading algorithms to give the user the experience of an infinite landscape of audio and visual content.”
Check out the site for yourselves here
Also there will be an app for the iPhone released shortly so check iTunes store for more information on the “How it is” app.

From Jérémie Sellam, over at leschinois, comes a very big and awesome site for Orange’s spring collection. Its ambience reminds me of Mirrors Edge but without the redness and the camera wobbling.
They’ve combined a great design and fluidity of animation to achieve an awesome end result.

From Gerb Sterrenburg comes a followup on a previous experiment, and this time it’s even more mind-blowing as no special hardware is needed, you really have to see the video to see the awesomeness of the work that Gerb, along with StrafWerk did.
So be sure to check the video on his blog: http://www.gerbster.nl/2009/04/07/head-tracking-in-flash/

From Michael Domanski comes a really cool experiment that includes one of my favorite games EVE online here’s his say:
It’s completely un-optimized and the model used is over 4000 tris, but I’m already working on <500 tri equivalents to keep fps as high as possible.
I only hope those glow effects and hi-res skybox don’t kill me too soon![]()
PS. To achieve somewhat acceptable skybox quality I had to use doctored 6x 512×512 textures – otherwise they looked too pixelated.
Preferably I’d use some HDR rendering, but is it possible in PV3D&Flash without a tremendous hit on performance?
I’m definitely staying with low quality so texture diffusing is out of question, what do You think?

And leave your comments on where to go next.

From our friends over at Webber Design comes their latest rock band site, here’s their say
We have let another Papervision site rip this week. This time for a band that broke up in 1986 in the middle of recording their debut album, Not Afraid. 20 Years later, Julian, our client and the main singer/songwriter came to us not afraid to release his music after all this time. He was completing his life long dream, the album that had sat ‘in the can’ for two decades. He was very clear that he didn’t want this to feel ‘retro’ but timeless as he felt the music was just that. Our team decided to build him the custom ‘Dancer Theater’ where the band would come back to life after all these years. All we had to work with was a hand full of Black and White photos, 10 songs, some home videos and his recently designed album artwork. With a little imagination, a lot of photoshop and Papervision3D we brought them back in full color at the big concert they never had.
So be sure to check it out here:http://www.dancertheband.com/
